The word \"honey\" shows up in Psalm 119:103, part of the section Mem in the chapter's acrostic. Page 8 If you skipped page 7, your answer would be Psalm 119, the only choice that contains the word \"honey\". If youfigured out that Mem was the answer to page 7, you could choose either Psalm 119 or Proverbs 31 as your answer (both contain alphabetical acrostics). 10 from the notebooks of Grace Chen Not worthy of God’s goodness And the Lord said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves.- Exodus 32:7 NKJV So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. Then he said, “If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance.” Exodus 34:8-9 NKJV Sometimes, we may unintentionally look down on the Israelites because of their many flaws. We think, “How could the children of Israel complain for lack of meat when they already had manna? How could they not believe in God’s power to bring them into Canaan after they already
11saw all that the LORD did to the Egyptians? Why were theyso unfaithful? How could they have so little gratitude andfaith in God?” Then we conclude, “They are totally notworthy of God’s goodness. If I were God, I would havedestroyed them by now!” Yet we must remember that the story of the children ofIsrael is our story, too. We, too, have been redeemed fromthe house of bondage by the power and saving grace of theLord. We also have strengths and weaknesses, “times offaith” and “times of doubt”. Like the Israelites, we are notworthy of God’s goodness. When God called the Israelites to leave the only ‘home’they had every known, they obeyed and followed God intothe wilderness. When God called us to follow Him, we alsoleft the only life we’d ever known. We put off the old man,and began a new life of trusting in God for all our needs. The Israelites moved and camped at God’s command. They received God’s laws without asking “why?” When theTabernacle was constructed, the children of Israel gave sogenerously of their gifts and talents that there was “morethan enough”. Like the Israelites, we also have strengthsand “times of faith”. Some of us have experienced steppingout in faith in giving or doing things at the Holy Spirit’sprompting. Others have trusted in God in times of need, andreceived answers to prayer.
12 The Israelites had their weaknesses. They decided to worship God in their own way by building the Golden Calf. They complained that they had no meat to eat, and asked to return to Egypt. Instead of trusting in God, they did not believe that God was able to bring them into the land that He promised to give them. We too have weaknesses and “times of doubt” like the Israelites. Many times we have tried to worship God in our own way, or practiced idolatry by putting other people or priorities above God. There are times when we have complained and refused to trust that God always gives us what is best for us. Like the children of Israel, we are not worthy of God’s mercy and goodness. Sometimes, we may be stiff-necked, but God is longsuffering and His lovingkindness endures forever. We have flaws, weaknesses, and times of doubt, but God is perfect and forever faithful. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”- Lamentations 3:22-24
